In ten years of recruiting I have notice a strange phenomenon; when someone is out of work they are eager to meet with a recruiter to help them find a new position. The recruiter is a resource, a sounding board, an advisory, an ally and sometimes the channel through which the candidate finds a new role.
But once this same person has found their new job and is back on their career track they suffer Recruiter Memory Lost. The phone calls, the emails, the meetings with the recruiter are all forgotten, it is as if it didn’t even happen.
These are the same people who will not respond to a Recruiters phone call or email, hide behind voicemail, HR departments and other gate keepers.
This use to frustrate me now it makes me sad.
